Trucks have evolved to vehicles that do more than just the heavy lifting. They’ve become a worker’s way of life. A sturdy pickup truck is essential to any worker day-to-day routine. You need a truck’s extra space to store your tools and equipment, and you need the power for towing and carrying heavy cargo. Thanks to new technology, these trucks are more advanced and more efficient than ever before. Here at Lampe Dodge, we want you to make the right decision when buying a pickup truck. We’ve compare our beloved 2015 RAM 1500 to the competition for you, and here are four great reasons why you should choose the 2015 RAM 1500 over the 2015 Ford F-150.

1. More Affordable

MSRP range $25,410 – $50,380 $25,420 – $54,680

Although the economy has been recovering, it still doesn’t hurt to save money. What makes the RAM 1500 a worthy purchase is the value you get. Read through our list and you’ll see that the 2015 RAM 1500 has better overall performance and a wider range of customizable features, making the RAM 1500 stand out from the rest.

2. More Horsepower

Horsepower – Engine 395 HP, 5.7-liter V-8 HEMI® Engine 385 HP, 5.0-liter V-8

Both the RAM 1500 and F-150 have a couple of engine options. The biggest and most powerful engine available on the 2015 RAM 1500 is a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI Engine that generates 395 horsepower. On the F-150, the biggest engine is a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine, generating 385 horsepower. In this comparison, the 2015 RAM 1500 is the clear winner. Test drive one to see for yourself.

3. More Options and Control

The standard transmission on all 2015 RAM 1500 models is an 8-speed automatic 845RE transmission. The standard transmission on the 2015 F-150 is an electric 6-speed automatic transmission. Take advantage of the 8-speed automatic transmission for greater driver control and a smoother driving experience. However, if you want to go for the 6-speed automatic transmission, the RAM 1500’s Tradesman trim also has this as an option. Simply having two transmission options available makes the RAM 1500 a more user-friendly choice.

4. Better Fuel Economy

The highest MPG on the F-150 may be slightly higher than the RAM 1500, but that’s when it’s equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 Engine. It sacrifices a significant amount of horsepower and reduces it to about 325. Compared to Ram’s 395 horsepower at 17 city and 25 hwy MPG, the F-150’s EcoBoost engine fails to impressive.
